Becton Dickinson & Company

IN HYPODERMIC PRODUCTS ANTITRUST LITIG., MASTER DOCKET NO. 05-CV-1602 (JLL), MDL 1730 (D. N.J.)

Abbey Spanier is one of the lead counsel for a proposed class of purchasers of disposable hypodermic products manufactured by Becton Dickinson. Plaintiffs in that case allege that Becton Dickinson's unlawful pricing policies, including the bundling of certain of its products, have lessened competition and therefore caused consumers to pay artificially inflated prices for disposable hypodermic products purchased during the relevant period.

This complex antitrust case is being actively litigated before Judge Linares in the District of New Jersey and is in the discovery phase. Currently pending are competing motions for summary judgment addressing the issue of who is the "direct purchaser" of Becton's products for the purposes of federal antitrust standing.
