IN RE TOYOTA 2010 PRIUS/HYBRID BRAKE CLASS ACTIONS, LEAD CASE NO. 8:10-CV-00154-CJC-RNBX

Abbey Spanier Rodd & Abram, LLP filed a nationwide class action lawsuit against Toyota Motor Corporation. ("Toyota") and certain affiliated entities in the United States District Court for the Central District of California on behalf of people who own or lease Toyota 2010 Model Year Prius automobiles or 2010 Model Year Lexus HS 250h automobiles.

On July 28, 2010, Abbey Spanier was appointed co-lead counsel in In re Toyota 2010 Prius/Hybrid Brake Class Actions, Lead Case No. 8:10-CV-00154-CJC-RNBx.

Contrary to Toyota's representations regarding their safety, the vehicles suffer from a material defect in their anti-lock braking system that causes a momentary loss of braking capability. As a result, these vehicles may be incapable of stopping or slowing down properly, and pose a significant threat of injury to their drivers and others.

Toyota first acknowledged this defect on February 8, 2010, when it announced that it would recall approximately 133,000 Prius and 14,550 HS 250h vehicles in the United States.
