ARTHUR N. ABBEY SPEAKS AT HARVARD LAW SCHOOL
Founding Partner, Arthur N. Abbey was a guest lecturer at Harvard Law School's Securities Litigation Seminar on Thursday, March 4, 2010. Mr. Abbey gave a presentation regarding his firm's recent achievement serving as lead counsel in the three month long class action securities fraud trial against Vivendi Universal, S.A..
On January 29, 2010, after three weeks of deliberation, the nine person jury delivered a verdict finding Vivendi liable for securities fraud with regard to 57 material misstatements. The Class includes all persons from the United States, France, England and the Netherlands who purchased or otherwise acquired ordinary shares or American Depository Shares of Vivendi on both foreign and american exchanges between October 30, 2000 and August 14, 2002. The Vivendi case is just one of nine securities class actions tried to verdict following the passage of the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act in 1995.
